Assessments at Roots Charter High School
At Roots Charter High School, we use a variety of assessments to measure student growth, guide instruction, and fulfill state and federal requirements. Below is an overview of the key assessments our students take:
Aspire+ (9th & 10th Grade) Aspire+ is a state-mandated assessment for 9th and 10th graders that evaluates student proficiency in English, math, science, and reading. It provides valuable insights into academic progress and readiness for future coursework.
Renaissance Testing (All Students) When students enroll at Roots, they take Renaissance assessments in math and reading. These adaptive tests help us determine each student’s skill level and track progress over time, ensuring they receive the support they need to grow academically.

ACT (11th Grade) All 11th-grade students take the ACT, a nationally recognized college entrance exam. This test measures skills in English, math, reading, and science, helping students prepare for post-secondary education and career pathways.
WIDA Testing (English Language Learners) Students who are identified as English Language Learners (ELLs) take the WIDA assessment to measure their proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in English. This test helps us tailor instruction to support language development.

We are committed to using assessments as a tool to support student success, not just as a measure of performance. If you have any questions about our testing process, please feel free to contact us.
